So it was brought to my attention that I'm the only person posting on this forum:) But, I know at least a few people have to be passing through here and there. Anyway, for anyone in the know who happens to be passing through I have a question. 3 weeks ago I received my first Japanese Black Pine, a big 80 year old specimen that hadn't exactly been meticulously cared for. It's not in terrible shape but I know it could be much better! I purchased the JBP bundle video set and I have watched all of the videos and my question is: How should the info contained in the videos be modified for an 80yr old specimen that needs work?
August 11th when I received the tree.

It was last re-potted 5 years ago and the top layer of soil was kinda crusty. I know it's not the appropriate time of year to root trim and re-pot plus the tree was cut back and decandled a couple of weeks before I received it so I just took off the top 3/4-1" of soil and replaced that.
